Yes I’m fine, you can stop knocking on the bathroom door!

I didn’t bring my lunch to work today so I decided to get a sandwich and salad. Now I’m on a mission to eat healthier so I dutifully got my sandwich on some brown bread with no mayo and no cheese. So really it was just a tomato and spinach sandwich. I don’t know if you know this but I hate brown bread. Hate. It. I think it tastes like sandpaper in my mouth. It goes back to the time when my parents didn’t have a lot of money and I had peanut butter on brown bread for lunch during an entire school year. Well, maybe it wasn’t the whole year but to my 7 year old brain it sure felt like it. Since then I’ve hated any grainy bread and love white. But I’m trying to lose weight so I decided to suck it up, be an adult and buy the damn brown bread.

And oddly enough the sandwich was…edible. I won’t say good or tasty because it had brown bread but I ate it and didn’t throw it up so that can only be a step in the right direction. It was the side salads that got me though. I got a nice tossed salad with no dressing and because they didn’t have anything else that was not saturated in oil, I got a bean salad. I’m not a huge fan of beans but I they “looked’ healthy and it wasn’t chocolate so I figured what the hell.

The tossed salad was good, your regular tossed salad. It was the bean salad, however, that makes me want to sit in the bathroom for the rest of the day and never leave. I only had about 4 bites before I realized that the beans were soaked in some kind of oil. They were soggy and slimy so I stopped eating them. It seems like those four bites were enough to make the rest of my day a living hell. They have given me gas. I’m horrified.

Maybe I should stop eating healthy. At least with my crap I didn’t get this embarrassed.

Your body will get used to it. And it should! Be brave, and invest in Gas-x or something similar.

We’ll see. I have a wicked cookbook my sister gave me that calls for an awful lot of beans in most of the recipes. I won’t give up yet!

I bought an organic lentil soup a few weeks ago-it gave me diarrea at work! Hard core. I had to go home-a dreadful ride on the city bus. I stay away from those damn things.
